Relevant Work Experience

Senior Consultant

• Leader for many projects including interfacing with clients, sales, third party consultants and co-workers.

• Consulted on design and assisted in implementation and maintenance of numerous client networks ranging in size from single office LANs to WANs and VPNs spanning several states.
• Installed and maintained corporate as well as co-located client servers.
• Developed managed firewall/VPN product line based on Linux operating system for deployment to many of our clients as well as for internal use. This responsibility included testing various components for performance, ease-of-use, maintainability, and hardware independence. Developed implementation package and procedures.
• Designed and implemented corporate and client security policies and monitoring infrastructures.

Security Consultant

• Consulted on host and network security issues for Solaris and Linux boxes.

• Designed and implemented secure mail services utilizing open protocols (SMTP, POP3, IMAP, LDAP).

Technical and Consulting Skills

• Knowledge of theory or operation of several authentication systems including Windows NT Domains, Kerberos, S/KEY and SecurID.

• Knowledge in cryptography including symmetric and asymmetric algorithms, message digest algorithms, and cryptographic protocols, as well as specific technologies such as SSL and PGP.
• Designed and deployed multiple heterogeneous networks using protocols and technologies such as IP, IPX, DHCP, WINS, DNS, LDAP and NFS.
• Experience with network equipment from several manufacturers including Cisco and Lucent (Ascend).
• Architectures: Majority of experience in x86, but also some Sparc experience.
• Platforms: Microsoft Windows 2.0 up to XP including both consumer (Windows 95, 98) and corporate (NT, 2000) product lines; various flavors of Unix including Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Solaris, and SCO OpenServer; NetWare 2.x, 3.x, 4.x.
• Programming languages: Primary experience in C, Java (including Servlets, JSP, EJB, Java 2 Security, JAAS, and other J2EE technologies), Python, and Perl. Also versed in C++, x86 Assembly, Common LISP, Bourne shell script, and BASIC (including Visual Basic, VBA, AccessBASIC, QuickBASIC), PL/SQL.
