darky's Standards for ID3 and Vorbis tags

I have a lot of MP3s. I'm also very anal. Naturally this means I want consistency as well as lots of useful information stored with my music. These documents are the result of that. Some parts of these documents reflect my personal taste, but for the most part I aim for them to be in agreement with some standard practices, such as the rules for cataloging music or American English grammar. While I wish that others would follow these standards, I've mostly written them for my benefit.

Right now these documents are a work in progress, as made obvious by their version numbering. Forthcoming should be a document that specifies standards for tagging Ogg Vorbis files, much like the SID3 document (below). I've also considered something like a beginners guide to make the standards more accessible for people that don't like to read long documents (lazy/stupid). I may also end up doing something like a document of interpretations and/or clarifications.

If you have a suggestion, constructive criticism, or perhaps even some actual content you'd like to propose for addition, please mail it to darkness. If you would like a clarification on a particular situation, hypothetical or (better) real, you may also mail me; I might even respond.

These documents were constructed with LaTeX on Red Hat Linux using teTeX. They are available in TeX, DVI, PostScript, PDF, and HTML. I'll try and update them whenever I've got enough changes to warrant it on my end.
